Joe Alwyn and Taylor Swift have been together for a very long time — and they have managed to keep many, many things about their relationship under wraps.
The couple has been going strong for five years now, and in those five years the two have rarely spoken about their romance in public and are not often spotted together.
In a new interview with Elle, the 31-year-old actor is opening up on why he and Taylor have chosen to keep their relationship so private. He revealed:
“It’s not really [because I] want to be guarded and private, it’s more a response to something else.
We live in a culture that is so increasingly intrusive. The more you give and frankly, even if you don’t give it, something will be taken.”
Back in February, Joe also gave a rare comment about his relationship with Taylor, sweetly confirming that they are happily exclusive:
“I think people can do what they want and makes them happy. I’m obviously happy in a monogamous relationship.”
