Everyone’s been buzzing about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle welcoming their baby daughter – Lilibet Diana Mountbatten-Windsor, who arrived earthside on Friday (June 4).

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex shared the happy news on Sunday (June 6), in a statement posted on their website.

“It is with great joy that Prince Harry and Meghan, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, welcome their daughter, Lilibet “Lili” Diana Mountbatten-Windsor, to the world.

Lili was born on Friday, June 4 at 11:40 a.m. in the trusted care of the doctors and staff at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital in Santa Barbara, CA. She weighed 7 lbs 11 oz. Both mother and child are healthy and well, and settling in at home.”

The Royal Family has since congratulated the Sussexes, with a spokesperson for Buckingham Palace saying, “The Queen, The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall, and The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have been informed and are delighted with the news of the birth of a daughter for The Duke and Duchess of Sussex.”

Prince William and Kate Middleton, a.k.a. the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, themselves also congratulated the Sussexes on Instagram, writing, “We are all delighted by the happy news of the arrival of baby Lili. Congratulations to Harry, Meghan and Archie.”

Not only that, they’ve also reportedly sent a gift for Baby Lili when they learned about the birth.

According to an Us Weekly source, the Cambridges were “informed about the birth and have sent Lilibet a gift.”

No word yet on what the gift is exactly, but totally sweet of them.

Prince Harry and Meghan have also shared the sweet meaning behind baby Lili’s name. “Lili is named after her great-grandmother, Her Majesty The Queen, whose family nickname is Lilibet. Her middle name, Diana, was chosen to honor her beloved late grandmother, The Princess of Wales.”

It’s actually something Baby Lili shares with her cousin Princess Charlotte, whose middle names are also in honor of her great-grandmother and grandmother – her full name is Charlotte Elizabeth Diana Mountbatten-Windsor.

Royal reporters believe that Prince Harry may have hinted about liking the name Lili as far as two years back. Apparently, while attending a royal event back in January 2019, Harry chatted with a mom whose daughter is named Lily about the spelling of her daughter’s name. This was also around the time that Meghan was pregnant with their son, Archie – although, at the time, the baby’s gender was yet to be revealed.

“Prince Harry came over first and chatted to my two-year-old then spoke to my six-year-old Lily and then as he was walking off, he turned back he asked Lily if she spelt her name with a I or Y,” Lily’s mother, Rebecca Blundell, told the Daily Mail at the time. “I straight away thought that must be a name choice.”

Also sending love to the Sussexes from across the pond is Prince Harry’s cousin, Princess Eugenie.

On her Instagram Story, Princess Eugenie celebrated the Sussexes’ newest addition, writing, “Congratulations dear cousins. we couldn’t be happier for you all.”

Princess Eugenie welcomed her own bundle of joy just four months prior – a son named August Philip Hawke Brooksbank, whom she shares with husband Jack Brooksbank.
