Jake Gyllenhaal posted a throwback pic on social media – and caught the attention of Taylor Swift’s fans.
The photo in question is a black-and-white childhood pic of Jake wearing large round-framed glasses. And it seems Swifties are taking it as confirmation of a theory about one of her songs.
In case you’re wondering what a Taylor Swift song has to do with the 39-year-old actor, Jake and Taylor used to be a thing waaay back in 2010. They dated for a few months – they were photographed spending Thanksgiving together at Jake’s sister, Maggie Gyllenhaal’s, home that year. However, the pair reportedly split before the year was over.
Fast-forward a couple of years, Taylor dropped her Red album, which includes “All Too Well.” The track was rumored to be about Jake, and may even include a reference about his Maggie.
Taylor’s fans flooded the comments section of Jake’s Instagram post with a line from the 2012 track, with many quoting the lyrics “You used to be a little kid with glasses in a twin-sized bed.”
Others outright referenced the perceived connection, writing comments like, “all I hear is all too well when I look at this,” and “I’m about to sing All Too Well.”
Rachel Zegler even weighed in on all the buzz, writing, “I’ll be honest mate you set yourself up for this one.”
For his part, Jake has kept his past romance with Taylor private – although he did say she was “a beautiful girl” in a 2015 interview with Howard Stern.
The song also mentioned a scarf, which is “at your sister’s house / And you still got it in your drawer even now.”
When Andy Cohen asked Maggie about the said scarf during a 2017 appearance on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen, here’s what she said: “I never understood everybody asked me about this scarf? What is this?” Maggie said. “I am in the dark about the scarf. It’s totally possible. I have been asked this before!”
Do you think “All Too Well” is actually about Jake?
