Jennifer Aniston is offering a rare glimpse into one of the most publicized chapters of her life.

In a new interview with Vanity Fair, the actress briefly addressed the time after her divorce from Brad Pitt — when his relationship with co-star Angelina Jolie dominated headlines. She referred to that period as “the love triangle” years, acknowledging how she managed to navigate it.

“Just pick yourself up by the bootstraps and keep on walking, girl,” she said, distilling her coping strategy into one no-nonsense sentence.

Looking back, she acknowledged the frenzy surrounding the situation. “It was such juicy reading for people. If they didn’t have their soap operas, they had their tabloids,” she said. “It’s a shame that it had to happen, but it happened. And boy did I take it personally.”

Jennifer reflected on the media cycle of the time, which she said could build someone up and then quickly tear them down. “They were sort of building us up and then tearing you down…Oh God, did I just quote The Morning Show?” she laughed. But beneath the humor was an admission about how deeply it affected her. “I didn’t have a strong enough constitution to not get affected by it. We’re human beings, even though some people don’t want to believe we are. They think, You signed up for it, so you take it. But we really didn’t sign up for that.”

She also compared journalism at the time to a competitive sport. “There’s obviously some PTSD we all have, which is why these scare me…How are they going to misinterpret my words or take something out of context? And one line nowadays…” she trailed off, suggesting that even now, public comments carry the risk of being twisted.

By speaking candidly — even briefly — Jennifer acknowledges both the personal toll and the broader media culture that fueled the “love triangle” narrative. While she doesn’t dwell on the past, her words make clear that the experience left a lasting mark.
