Jeremy Renner has publicly denied allegations made by former film partner Yi Zhou, who claimed the 54-year-old Marvel star sent her explicit images and threatened to involve ICE after their alleged romantic relationship ended.
In a statement to Us Weekly, Renner’s representative said: “These allegations are totally inaccurate and untrue.”
Yi Zhou, a 34-year-old filmmaker, shared a series of posts on Instagram detailing what she described as unwanted and troubling interactions with Renner. She claimed he sent “a string of unwanted/unsolicited pornographic images of himself” via DMs and WhatsApp and allegedly threatened to report her to immigration authorities.
“He convinced me of his sincerity, saying he had been single for a long time and open to a long-term relationship,” Yi wrote. “I believed in him, in the power of love, and in the possibility of redemption.”
Yi also alleged professional conflicts during their work on projects including Stardust Future and Chronicles of Disney, asserting that Renner’s behavior negatively impacted her career. She described a particularly tense meeting at Renner’s home in Reno, Nevada, which involved prolonged yelling and alcohol consumption.
“When I called him out privately about his past misconduct and asked him to behave properly, to respect me as a woman and as a filmmaker, he threatened to call immigration/ICE on me, an act that deeply shocked and frightened me,” Yi said.
She urged her followers, industry colleagues, and Academy voters to support women facing similar challenges in Hollywood. “Over the past months, I have lived with fear for my safety and deep distress over the treatment I have endured,” she wrote.
The story has sparked a larger discussion about power dynamics in the film industry, the responsibility of high-profile figures, and the experiences of women in Hollywood creative spaces. Renner has not responded directly to the social media allegations but maintains that the claims are false.
