Katy Perry Drops New Single ‘Bandaids’

Katy Perry is back — and she’s bleeding honesty on her new single.

On Thursday (November 6), the pop superstar dropped “Bandaids,” her latest release, along with a visually striking music video that has everyone talking. The 41-year-old singer takes fans on a wild ride through chaos, humor, and heartbreak — all wrapped up in the kind of tongue-in-cheek storytelling only Katy can pull off.

In the video, a down-on-her-luck Katy stumbles through a series of absurd, near-death situations: she gets her hand stuck in a garbage disposal, her shoelace caught in an escalator, and nearly burns herself with coffee while driving — before sinking dramatically into quicksand. It’s campy, cinematic, and deeply symbolic of survival through pain.

The song itself feels like a raw reflection on her split from Orlando Bloom, which made headlines earlier this year after the couple called off their engagement following nearly a decade together.

“Hand to God, I promise I tried / There’s no stone left unturned,” Katy sings, her voice carrying the weight of heartbreak and acceptance. “It’s not what you did / It’s what you didn’t / You were there, but you weren’t.”

Fans immediately picked up on the emotional parallels between the lyrics and her real-life relationship. Later in the song, Katy references their 5-year-old daughter, Daisy, as the bright light that came out of the storm: “If I had to do it all over again / I would still do it all over again / The love that we made was worth it in the end.”

It’s a bittersweet confession that lands right in the heart — and reminds listeners that healing isn’t linear. Sometimes, it’s messy, loud, and yes, covered in metaphorical bandaids.

The track’s release marks a fresh era for Katy, who’s been steadily redefining herself both personally and professionally. Following her Vegas residency and hiatus from full-length albums, “Bandaids” feels like a bold return — more self-aware, stripped back, and emotionally charged than ever.

The internet, of course, has been buzzing not just about the music but about her rumored new flame — former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. (Because of course, leave it to Katy to make both pop and politics collide.)

[Verse 1]
Hand to God, I promised, I tried
There’s no stone left unturned
It’s not what you did, it’s what you didn’t
You were there, but you weren’t

[Pre-Chorus]
Got so used to you letting me down
No use tryna send flowers now
Telling myself you’ll change, you don’t
Band-Aids over a broken heart

[Chorus]
Tried all the medications
Lowered my expectations
Made every justification
Bleeding out, bleeding out, bleeding out slow
Band-Aids over a broken heart

[Verse 2]
On the bright side, we had good times
Never faked our pictures
We were perfect ’til we weren’t
Now we’ve got too many splinters

[Pre-Chorus]
Got so used to you letting me down
No use tryna send flowers now
Telling myself you’ll change, you don’t
Band-Aids over a broken heart

[Chorus]
Tried all the medications
Lowered my expectations
Made every justification
Bleeding out, bleeding out, bleeding out slow
Band-Aids over a broken heart
It’s not that complicated (Uh-huh)
To ask me how my day is
I’m flatlining trying to save this
Bleeding out, bleeding out, bleeding out slow
Band-Aids over a broken heart

[Bridge]
If I had to do it all over again
I would still do it all over again
The love that we made was worth it in the end
Oh yeah, oh yeah
If I had to do it all over again
I would still do it all over again
The love that we made was worth it in the end
Oh yeah

[Chorus]
Tried all the medications (All the medications)
Lowered my expectations (Oh-oh)
Made every justification (Oh)
Bleeding out, bleeding out, bleeding out slow
Band-Aids over a broken heart
