Actor and singer Kevin McHale officially made his Broadway debut on Tuesday, August 25, stepping into the role of Brad Majors in The Rocky Horror Show at the Circle in the Square Theatre.
McHale, 38, replaced outgoing actor Andrew Durand in the production. Audience members opening their opening-night Playbills noted a special tribute included at the conclusion of his cast biography, which honors his late Glee co-star Cory Monteith, who passed away in 2013:
“For Cory, his forever Brad,” the bio reads.
The dedication holds specific significance for fans of the musical series. In the second season of Glee, the cast performed a dedicated tribute episode centered on The Rocky Horror Show, in which Monteith’s character, Finn Hudson, was cast as Brad Majors opposite Lea Michele’s Rachel Berry as Janet Weiss.
McHale took to social media ahead of his debut performance to share a moment of reflection:
“Sitting at breakfast and it’s song after song Cory sang on Glee. That’s my Brad 😭,” he wrote.
Following the curtain call, McHale posted backstage photos alongside friends and former co-stars—including Alex Newell and partner Austin McKenzie—who attended the premiere to support his performance:
“A little family, a little glee, a little Bee – I love my people! I guess I’m on Broadway now! Come see @rockyhorrorbway!” he captioned the post.
