Lizzo is stepping into a new era.
The Grammy-winning artist has officially announced her third studio album, Bitch, set for release on June 5. The reveal arrives alongside news that the project’s title track—an interpolation of Meredith Brooks’ 1997 hit—will debut Friday (May 1), accompanied by a music video that signals the tone of this next era.
For Lizzo, the album title is more than a headline—it’s a statement of intent.
“Reclaiming the word Bitch is power – it’s taking a label once used to diminish women and turning it into a declaration of confidence, and unapologetic self-love,” she explains.
“So many incredible women in music have used the word for positivity like Meredith Brooks and Missy Elliot. It was only fitting to name my album Bitch because it has become my favorite word when using it on my own terms and because I am 100% that bitch!”
The project builds on the momentum of her recently released single “Don’t Make Me Love U,” a track that hinted at a more self-assured, emotionally grounded Lizzo—one still rooted in empowerment, but with sharper edges and deeper reflection.
While Lizzo has long championed themes of self-worth and body positivity, Bitch appears poised to expand that narrative, leaning into autonomy and personal agency. The framing suggests a deliberate shift: less about external validation, more about internal definition.
The timing of the release also aligns with a broader creative rollout. Beyond music, Lizzo is preparing to enter the literary space with her upcoming children’s book Lil Lizzo Meets Sasha B. Flootin’, arriving in September. Inspired by her own journey into music, the project reflects her continued interest in storytelling across platforms—particularly narratives that center self-belief and imagination.
Offstage, Lizzo has also been embracing a more visible personal life. Earlier this month, she was spotted attending a performance at The Hotel Café in Hollywood, walking arm-in-arm with her boyfriend, Myke Wright, as he took the stage for his final show at the venue.
