Love was very much in the air this Valentine’s Day — and this time, it wasn’t just chocolates and roses. Maya Hawke and Christian Lee Hutson officially said “I do” in a surprise wedding that felt equal parts romantic, artistic, and unmistakably New York.

The 27-year-old actress and the 35-year-old singer tied the knot on Saturday, Feb. 14, in an intimate ceremony in New York City. True to Maya’s quietly cool aesthetic, the celebration was elegant without feeling overstated — and incredibly personal.

Maya wore a white wedding dress topped with an oversized, feathery winter coat that felt dramatic in the best way. Hutson kept it timeless in a classic tuxedo. It was fashion-meets-fairytale, but make it downtown.

Of course, the guest list was just as iconic.

Maya’s famous parents — Ethan Hawke and Uma Thurman — were in attendance. Thurman stunned in a light blue gown with matching shoes, while Ethan opted for an all-black ensemble. The former couple, who were married from 1998 to 2005, reunited for the milestone moment alongside their son Levon Roan Thurman-Hawke. Ethan’s daughters Clementine Jean Hawke and Indiana Hawke (whom he shares with wife Ryan Shawhughes Hawke), as well as Thurman’s daughter Luna (whom she shares with ex-fiancé Arpad Busson), were also present.

And yes, the Stranger Things family showed up.

Finn Wolfhard, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Sadie Sink, Natalia Dyer, Charlie Heaton, and Joe Keery all attended, turning the ceremony into a low-key Hawkins reunion.

While representatives for the couple did not respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment, the relationship itself has never been particularly secret — just thoughtfully private.

Hutson publicly confirmed Maya was his fiancée during a SoCal Sound Session interview last year. When host Julie Slater referenced his collaboration on “Carousel Horses” from Paradise Pop. 10 with Phoebe Bridgers and his “fiancée” Maya, Hutson simply replied, “Yeah.”

Two months later, Maya was photographed in Manhattan flashing a diamond ring.

The pair made their red carpet debut in April at the opening night of John Proctor Is the Villain, where Maya supported Sadie Sink at New York City’s Booth Theater. They also attended the Prada FW25 show during Milan Fashion Week together. Maya later posted a photo of them front row on Instagram in March.

But this love story started long before the fashion weeks and premieres.

Maya first met Hutson while recording music years ago. The New York-based musician toured with Phoebe Bridgers between 2022 and 2023 and collaborated with Maya on her 2024 album Chaos Angel.

In February 2024, Hutson shared a Valentine’s Day post celebrating her music, writing: “The first song from Maya’s new record, Chaos Angel, is out now. I love this song. I love this record. can’t wait to share the rest of it.”

By July, Maya made her feelings equally clear, posting candid photos of the two together. “I am lucky enough to know this guy @christianleehutson. He is a poet musical genius,” she wrote, adding that she was “lucky enough to write with him” on his album, Paradise Pop. 10.

And in a candid interview on The Zach Sang Show, she opened up about what makes their relationship work:

“It’s awesome. I cannot recommend highly enough dating your friends. It’s the best. They know you, and as a human being who has dated other people,” she said. “They really know you as a person who has feelings … not just a piece of paper for them to project their image of perfect girlfriend onto.”

Friends first. Artists always. Now, officially married.

We love a Valentine’s Day plot twist.
