Michelle Williams is remembering her friend and former co-star James Van Der Beek.

While attending the 2026 Actor Awards, where she won Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Television Movie or Limited Series for Dying for Sex, the actress took a quiet moment on the red carpet to speak about her Dawson’s Creek castmate.

“I’m thinking about him,” she told Entertainment Tonight.

“And I’m thinking about his family constantly. It’s been such an amazing thing, as James‘s friend and a friend of the family, to see the response in the wake of his passing.”

The loss of Van Der Beek sent waves through a generation that grew up watching Dawson’s Creek define late-’90s teen drama. But beyond nostalgia, Michelle focused on the support shown to his loved ones.

“I just really want to say thank you to each and every person who has contributed to sustaining their lives and their children’s lives. It’s an incredibly meaningful thing to witness,” she added.

Her comments appeared to reference the GoFundMe created to assist his family.
