Millie Bobby Brown rang in 22 surrounded by the people who helped shape the last decade of her life — both on-screen and off.
The Stranger Things star celebrated her birthday on February 19 with an intimate dinner at Maison Close in New York City’s SoHo neighborhood. Arriving alongside her husband Jake Bongiovi, her grandparents, and her mother, Brown looked relaxed and grounded — far from the sci-fi chaos that made her famous.
But the guest list told a bigger story.
David Harbour, who plays her on-screen father Jim Hopper, quietly arrived on his own. Jamie Campbell Bower, who brought the chilling villain Vecna to life, was also in attendance. So was executive producer and director Shawn Levy — one of the creative architects behind the series itself.
It wasn’t just a birthday dinner. It was a reunion of the world that built her career.
The Harbour Headlines — And What Brown Has Said
The celebration comes months after reports claimed Brown had filed a bullying and harassment complaint against Harbour ahead of filming season five. According to earlier reporting, the allegations reportedly led to a “months”-long investigation involving what a source described as “pages and pages of accusations.”
Brown has since addressed the speculation directly and firmly.
“We have always been united in that,” she said in a Nov. 26 interview. “We love this show with everything, and we value our friendship more than anything.”
She also reflected on what it’s been like returning to scenes with Harbour as the series heads toward its final chapter.
“It was quite nostalgic because it reminded me so much of season 2 and 3, where we’re both kind of butting heads and she’s growing up, she’s trying to find her own voice and he’s trying to parent, and that dynamic definitely comes back into play once again, and I’m really excited for people to see that,” she said.
And when asked directly about safety on set, Brown did not hesitate.
“Of course I felt safe. I mean, we’ve worked together for 10 years,” Brown told Deadline. “I feel safe with everyone on that set. You naturally just, you know … you’ve been doing it for so long.”
“We also play father and daughter, so naturally you have a closer bond than the rest, because we have had some really intense scenes together, especially in season 2,” she added.
For fans who have watched Eleven and Hopper’s relationship evolve from cautious alliance to emotional anchor, the real-life camaraderie holds weight.
Jamie Campbell Bower: From Villain to Core Cast
Jamie Campbell Bower’s presence at the birthday dinner also carries significance.
Bower joined Stranger Things in season four as Vecna — the show’s most psychologically complex and physically imposing antagonist to date. His character became Eleven’s ultimate counterpart, tying directly into her origin story and reshaping the mythology of the Upside Down.
On-screen, Vecna and Eleven are adversaries. Off-screen, Bower’s arrival marked a major shift in the show’s tone and scale. Season four pushed the series into darker territory, and his performance anchored that evolution.
For Brown, who has carried the emotional weight of Eleven since she was 12 years old, Bower became part of the next era of her character’s journey. Their scenes together were intense, layered, and physically demanding — a turning point for both actors.
Having him at her 22nd birthday signals something simple but meaningful: the “villain” is part of the family, too.
Shawn Levy: The Man Behind the Curtain
Then there’s Shawn Levy.
As an executive producer and director, Levy has been instrumental in shaping Stranger Things from its earliest days. He directed key episodes and helped steer the show’s balance between nostalgia, horror, heart, and blockbuster spectacle.
For Brown, Levy isn’t just a producer — he’s been part of her professional upbringing.
