Minka Kelly is getting real about her first day of filming on Euphoria.
The 41-year-old actress plays Samantha, the rich mom of a child Maddy (Alexa Demie) babysits on season two of the smash HBO show.
Minka shared in a new interview that on her first day on set with Euphoria director and writer Sam Levinson, she was supposed to have a nude scene. She was not comfortable with it, and said that Sam was open to allowing her to make tweaks to her character.
In the particular scene, Samantha arrives home from a dinner date with her husband. She asks Maddie to help her unzip the back of the dress she was wearing.
About the scene, Minka revealed:
“[Sam] thought it would be more interesting if my dress fell to the ground.
That was my first day as a guest on this new show, and I just didn’t feel comfortable standing there naked.”
The actress said that Sam instantly agreed when she pushed back:
“I said, ‘I’d love to do this scene, but I think we can keep my dress on.’ He was like, ‘Okay!’ He didn’t even hesitate. And he shot a beautiful scene and got exactly what he wanted.”
