North West is officially entering her music era.
The 12-year-old daughter of Kanye West and Kim Kardashian released her debut EP, N0rth4evr, at midnight on Friday, May 1 — marking the latest step in what’s already shaping up to be one of pop culture’s most closely watched next-generation careers.
The six-track project blends emo, trap, punk, and metal influences into a fast-moving, experimental release that clocks in at just over 11 minutes. Alongside the EP, North also dropped a music video for the title track “#N0rth4evr,” directed by Ty Akimoto and Mack Ishida.
While celebrity kids launching music careers is hardly new territory, North’s debut arrives with a level of attention few young artists experience this early. That’s partly because she’s been publicly immersed in music, fashion, and performance practically her entire life.
Fans first began noticing North’s growing musical interests through appearances alongside Kanye over the years, including features on several of his songs and a collaboration with FKA twigs. Earlier this year, she officially stepped into solo territory with her debut single “Piercing On My Hand,” which immediately generated online buzz for its chaotic energy and hyper-online aesthetic.
Last month, North even joined Kanye onstage during his concert at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles, performing both “Talking” and “Piercing On My Hand” in front of a packed crowd.
Now, with N0rth4evr, she’s pushing things even further.
The EP’s release was celebrated with a pop-up event at Complex LA on Friday, where North arrived sporting her now-signature blue hair and full rockstar confidence. Photos and videos from the event quickly circulated online as fans lined up to experience the launch firsthand.
Later that day, Kanye West and his wife Bianca Censori were spotted arriving to support North at the event, showing a united front around her newest creative milestone.
Despite North’s age, early reactions to the EP have been surprisingly thoughtful, with critics and fans alike noting that the project already carries a distinct identity separate from her father’s music.
Rolling Stone wrote: “Across these six songs, she begins to turn that impossible inheritance into material, shaping the noise around her into something undeniably her own. N0rth4evr is brief, but it leaves a surprisingly lasting impression: the sound of a young artist not merely entering the family business, but beginning to define the terms of her own mythology.”
