Olivia Rodrigo is back.
The 20-year-old hitmaker’s long-awaited sophomore era has officially begun with the release of her comeback single.
The new track, titled “Vampire,” was released Friday (June 30). It introduces fans to her upcoming album GUTS.
The song is another emotional ballad, much like her breakout hit “Driver’s License.” In “Vampire,” Olivia calls out a former lover who had done her wrong. She sings about him “bleeding me dry like a godd*mn vampire.”
Olivia sings in the single:
“I’ve made some real big mistakes, but you make the worst one look fine / I should have known it was strange / you only come out at night.
I used to think I was smart / But you made me look so naive.”
Looking at the lyrics, it seems Olivia may be singing about a previous relationship with an older partner.
Olivia also released the music video for the song, which is fittingly moody. In the video, she is covered in blood and performs in a mysterious glen.
GUTS will be released in full on September 8.
