Paris Jackson is setting the record straight — and calling out the media while she’s at it.
The 27-year-old singer-songwriter and daughter of the late Michael Jackson took to Twitter (X) to clear up recent tabloid speculation about her emotional state. After being photographed in tears during a solo walk in Los Angeles, several outlets, including the Daily Mail, ran with headlines suggesting she was “sparking concern.”
Paris quickly corrected the narrative.
“Those are breakup tears. y’all are fkn reaching again,” she wrote in a direct reply to the outlet’s post.
The tweet was in response to a July 23 article titled, “Paris Jackson sparks concern as she appears to cry during solo walk weeks after dad Michael’s death anniversary.” But as Paris made clear, her tears had nothing to do with her father’s anniversary — and everything to do with a recent split.
People has since confirmed that Paris and her fiancé, music producer Justin Long, have ended their engagement.
The couple’s relationship had mostly flown under the radar, with Paris announcing their engagement in a heartfelt Instagram post back in December. In it, she wrote: “doing life with you these last years has been an indescribable whirlwind and i couldn’t dream of anyone more perfect for me to do it all with.”
The post has since been deleted.
The two had seemed solid for quite some time, keeping their relationship lowkey while occasionally showing support for each other’s careers. Neither Paris nor Justin has shared further details about the breakup, but her recent tweet suggests it’s been an emotional time.
