Paris Jackson is setting the record straight on rumors about her involvement in the upcoming Michael Jackson biopic.
The 27-year-old actress and model, who is the daughter of the late King of Pop, responded to recent claims made by actor Colman Domingo. Domingo, who portrays Joe Jackson in the film, said in an interview that Paris and her brother Prince had been “very helpful” during production.
Paris quickly called out the statement on Instagram Stories, posting, “Don’t be telling people I was ‘helpful’ on the set of a movie I had zero percent involvement in lol that is so weird.”
She elaborated in another post, writing, “I read one of the first drafts of the script and gave my notes about what was dishonest/didn’t sit right with me and when they didn’t address it I moved on with my life. Not my monkeys not my circus. God bless and godspeed.”
In a series of videos, Paris gave further context, explaining that she bowed out early when her concerns weren’t taken seriously. “I wasn’t involved at all, aside from giving feedback on the first draft and then getting the feedback that, ‘yeah, we’re not actually going to address your notes at all,’” she said. “And I was like, alright, like, f–k me, um…so I just like butted out. I’ve left it alone. It’s not my project. They’re gonna make whatever they’re gonna make.”
She added that she chose not to speak up sooner because many fans will enjoy the movie regardless. “A big reason why I haven’t said anything up until this point is because I know a lot of you guys are gonna be happy with it… The film panders to a very specific section of my dad’s fandom that still lives in the fantasy and they’re gonna be happy with it,” she explained.
Paris also criticized the nature of biopics in general, pointing out how often they contain inaccuracies. “The thing about these biopics is they’re…it’s Hollywood, it’s fantasy land, it’s not real, but it’s sold to you as real…the narrative is being controlled, and there’s a lot of inaccuracy, and there’s a lot of just full-blown lies. And at the end of the day, that doesn’t really fly with me.”
She closed her remarks by clarifying that her stance is not rooted in resentment toward her father. “That’s not my truth. That’s not where I’m coming from. I just prefer honesty over, like, sales and monetary gain. That’s it. And I kinda just don’t want anything to do with that. So I’m gonna f–k off again. And I’m gonna keep minding my own business. And I suggest you do the same. God bless and Godspeed.”
