Phoebe Bridgers is officially back with a new album.
The acclaimed singer-songwriter has announced that her highly anticipated third studio album, Lost Weekend, will be released on August 14, marking her first solo full-length project in five years. The announcement arrives after months of anticipation from fans eager to hear what’s next from one of indie music’s most celebrated voices.
Lost Weekend is now available for pre-order in a variety of digital and physical formats, giving listeners the chance to secure the record ahead of its late-summer release.
The new project follows Punisher, Bridgers’ critically acclaimed sophomore album, which debuted in 2020 during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite the challenges surrounding its release, Punisher became a defining record of the year, earning widespread praise from critics and multiple Grammy nominations while cementing Bridgers as one of the most influential songwriters of her generation.
Long before Punisher, however, Bridgers had already established herself as one of indie music’s brightest emerging talents.
Her 2017 debut album, Stranger in the Alps, introduced audiences to her deeply personal songwriting, understated vocals, and emotionally rich storytelling. Released shortly after her 23rd birthday, the record quickly earned critical acclaim and positioned her as an artist with remarkable maturity and a distinctive creative voice.
With Punisher, Bridgers expanded on that foundation, delivering a collection that balanced intimate lyricism with more ambitious arrangements. The album showcased her evolution both as a songwriter and as a performer, earning praise for its honesty, wit, and atmospheric production.
Now, Lost Weekend promises to take that artistic journey even further.
According to the official album description, the record reflects an artist operating at the height of her creative abilities while continuing to challenge herself musically.
“Lost Weekend is the first Phoebe Bridgers album since her multi-GRAMMY nominated sophomore album, Punisher, was released at the peak of the Covid-19 pandemic. Much was made of Bridgers’ wise-for-her-years virtuosity when her lauded debut, Stranger in the Alps was released, about a month after the artist’s 23rd birthday; and Punisher was, it seems, universally praised as something of a promise-made-good-on, a clever, alluring, measured yet thrilling, ultimately very memorable album from an artist whose meteoric talent as a songwriter had been suddenly matched by her road-honed band and their richer, more daring accompaniment. But anyone queuing up Lost Weekend can expect to discover something more remarkable still – Bridgers is at the height of her powers, a master, taking nothing more seriously than this craft, refining here many of the motifs that distinguished her work previously on this new album that’s otherwise, everywhere, full of surprises.”
The description suggests listeners can expect an album that builds on the emotional honesty that has long defined Bridgers’ work while introducing fresh sounds and unexpected creative directions. Rather than simply revisiting familiar themes, Lost Weekend appears poised to showcase another stage in her artistic evolution.
Throughout her career, Bridgers has developed a reputation for crafting songs that balance vulnerability with sharp observational writing. Whether exploring heartbreak, anxiety, hope, or the quieter moments in between, she has consistently created music that resonates with listeners looking for authenticity and emotional depth.
That reputation has helped her cultivate an intensely loyal fanbase while also earning respect across the music industry. In recent years, Bridgers has expanded her creative reach through collaborations and side projects, all while maintaining the thoughtful songwriting that first brought her widespread recognition.
Alongside the album announcement, Bridgers also confirmed she’ll be hitting the road in support of the new record.
She is set to embark on The Lost Tour, a completely sold-out, phone-free concert experience. The decision to prohibit phones at the shows reflects a growing trend among artists looking to encourage fans to stay present during live performances, creating a more immersive atmosphere where audiences can experience the music without the distraction of recording every moment.
With Lost Weekend, Bridgers returns at a moment when anticipation surrounding her solo music has never been higher. The five-year gap since Punisher has only heightened excitement, and the early details suggest fans can expect another thoughtful, emotionally layered collection from one of contemporary music’s most distinctive voices.
As the countdown to August 14 begins, Lost Weekend is already shaping up to be one of the year’s most anticipated indie releases, reaffirming Phoebe Bridgers’ place as one of the defining singer-songwriters of her generation.
