Authorities in Los Angeles are investigating after a decomposed body was discovered in a Tesla registered to singer d4vd.

Police were called to an impound lot on Monday (September 8) after reports of a foul odor coming from an abandoned vehicle. When officers arrived, they found a body in an advanced state of decomposition inside the car, specifically within a bag located in the front trunk.

The Tesla, linked to d4vd—best known for his hit song “Romantic Homicide”—had been impounded days earlier after being left abandoned.

According to NBC News, the body’s condition has made identification challenging. Officials say the investigation remains ongoing, with forensics teams working to determine both the victim’s identity and cause of death.

d4vd, whose real name is David Anthony Burke, is currently on tour. He performed in Madison, Wisconsin on Sunday and has upcoming shows scheduled, including one in Minneapolis on Tuesday (September 9). Despite the shocking discovery, Rolling Stone reported that his scheduled concert in Minneapolis “is happening.”

Police emphasized that the singer has been “fully cooperative” throughout the investigation. At this stage, there is no indication that he is personally connected to the case beyond the fact that the car is registered in his name.

As the investigation develops, fans have expressed shock on social media, many offering support to the 19-year-old rising artist as he continues his tour amid the news. His North American dates are set to wrap up on September 20 before he heads overseas for the international leg of his tour in October.

Authorities have not released further details but confirmed that the unusual and tragic discovery remains under active investigation.
