Reese Witherspoon is setting the record straight! After the internet ran wild with speculation that she and Kate Winslet had a falling out, the Legally Blonde star took to Instagram to shut it all down.
ICYMI, Reese recently shared in an interview that a British actress stopped speaking to her after she playfully “roasted” her during an awards show speech. Fans quickly connected the dots, linking her story to a speech she gave about Kate Winslet at the 2007 BAFTA/LA Cunard Britannia Awards. Cue the drama.
But Reese isn’t having any of it. Over the weekend, she posted a firm denial on her Instagram Story: “Hey guys… just spoke to my very dear friend for years, Kate W. We laughed about this stupidity. Please do not believe the internet. We are good friends and have never had any falling out.”
She doubled down on the next slide, writing, “This is completely UNTRUE… so silly!”
As for who she was talking about in her original comment? That remains a mystery, but it’s definitely not Kate Winslet.
