Actress Selma Blair was taken into custody on Sunday following an alleged violent disturbance aboard a Delta Air Lines flight traveling from Los Angeles to New York City, Variety confirmed.

The 54-year-old Legally Blonde and Cruel Intentions star reportedly struck one flight attendant and bit another after attempting to open an aircraft exit door while in transit, according to initial reports from TMZ. Law enforcement vehicles were staged at the arrival gate at John F. Kennedy International Airport, where officers met the aircraft upon landing at approximately 11:00 p.m. Blair was immediately taken into custody and transported to a regional hospital for medical and psychological evaluation. Two flight crew members reported physical injuries, with one attendant receiving treatment at a local medical facility.

Addressing the incident, a representative for Blair issued a statement to Variety framing the event as a sudden health complication: “Selma experienced a medical emergency that led to the alleged conduct. Upon landing, she received immediate medical attention and is currently in stable condition.”

The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey confirmed Blair’s identity to Variety, while a law enforcement source indicated that the Federal Bureau of Investigation is currently reviewing the matter.

Delta Air Lines reiterated its security protocol in an official statement released to Variety: “Delta has zero tolerance for unruly or unlawful behavior, as the safety of our customers and crew always comes first.” Airline representatives noted that despite the disturbance on board, the aircraft landed ahead of schedule without operational flight disruption.

The incident marks the second time Blair has suffered a public medical emergency while flying. In 2016, the actress was removed from an international flight on a stretcher alongside her 4-year-old son after experiencing what she described as a “total psychotic blackout.” Blair later attributed the 2016 event to a adverse reaction between alcohol and prescription medication, reflecting publicly at the time: “It was horrible and frightening and I had empathy for myself actually afterwards because it was actually so out of character for me, especially because I’m a mother.”
