Sydney Sweeney is adding another major title to her rapidly expanding résumé.

The actress and producer has officially launched a new production company called Honey Trap alongside longtime collaborator Kaylee McGregor. The venture represents the latest step in Sweeney’s evolution from one of Hollywood’s most in-demand stars into a creative force behind the camera.

According to reports, McGregor will serve as president of development and production for Honey Trap, overseeing the company’s growing slate of film and television projects.

The announcement also comes with a significant industry endorsement: Honey Trap has secured a first-look deal with Sony Pictures. The partnership reunites Sweeney with the studio behind Anyone But You, the surprise romantic comedy hit that became one of the biggest box office success stories of 2023. Sony is also developing Sweeney’s upcoming Barbarella remake, further strengthening their relationship.

For Sweeney, the move signals a desire to take greater control over the stories she brings to audiences.

Over the past several years, she has steadily built a reputation not only as a performer but as a producer with sharp instincts for commercial and critically engaging material. Her producing credits already include projects such as Anyone But You and Immaculate, both of which showcased her willingness to champion material outside traditional studio formulas.

Honey Trap appears poised to continue that trend.

Sweeney and McGregor already have multiple projects in development together. Among them are Custom of the Country and The Housemaid’s Secret, a sequel to the thriller The Housemaid.

The launch also marks a notable new chapter following developments involving Sweeney’s previous production banner.

Earlier this year, reports surfaced that she was restructuring Fifty-Fifty Films LLC, the company she originally co-founded with former fiancé Jonathan Davino. In February, she reportedly filed paperwork to dissolve the LLC before reestablishing the company as Fifty-Fifty Films, Inc.

According to TMZ, Davino was reportedly supportive of the move and appreciative that Sweeney wanted to continue building on the foundation they created together.

The timing of Honey Trap’s debut comes amid one of the busiest periods of Sweeney’s career.

She continues to juggle a packed slate of film projects while remaining one of Hollywood’s most recognizable young stars. Most recently, her time on Euphoria came to an end, prompting renewed discussion around her breakout role as Cassie Howard.

Series creator Sam Levinson recently reflected on one of the show’s most controversial storylines involving Cassie and an OnlyFans plotline, discussing how open Sweeney was to tackling challenging and provocative material.

That willingness to take creative risks has become one of Sweeney’s defining qualities, both as an actress and now as a producer.

With Honey Trap, she joins a growing group of performers who are leveraging their star power into meaningful production influence. Rather than waiting for opportunities to arrive, Sweeney is helping create them herself.

For an actress who has spent the last several years proving she can carry major studio films, prestige dramas, and genre projects alike, launching a production company feels less like a side venture and more like the next logical step.

Hollywood may know Sydney Sweeney as a star—but Honey Trap suggests she has her sights set on becoming something even bigger.
