After weeks of fan theories, hidden clues, and internet detective work, Taylor Swift has finally confirmed what Swifties suspected all along: a brand-new song is on the way.
The global superstar announced that her original track, “I Knew It, I Knew You,” was written specifically for Disney and Pixar’s highly anticipated Toy Story 5. The reveal arrives after an elaborate promotional campaign that had fans scouring social media, streaming platforms, and even billboards for clues.
Swift broke the news with a heartfelt message shared across her social channels.
“It’s a Toy Story You knew it! My new original song ‘I Knew It, I Knew You’ for Disney and @pixar’s @toystory 5 will be yours on June 5th. I’ve always dreamed of getting to write for these characters who I’ve adored since I was a 5 year old kid watching the first Toy Story movie. I fell instantly in love with Toy Story 5 when I was lucky enough to see it in its early stages, and I wrote this song as soon as I got home from the screening. Sometimes you just know, right? You can pre-order now exclusively on my site and catch Toy Story 5 in theaters June 19th.”
The song is already available for pre-order as a Collector’s Edition CD single through Swift’s website. Fans can also purchase alternate versions, including acoustic and piano renditions, each featuring exclusive artwork.
According to an official release, Swift collaborated with longtime creative partner Jack Antonoff on the track. The song reportedly draws inspiration from Jessie, the beloved cowgirl first introduced in Toy Story 2, and her continuing journey in the upcoming film. The project also marks a return to Swift’s country storytelling roots, a sound that helped launch her career nearly two decades ago.
For Pixar, bringing Swift into the Toy Story universe proved to be a natural fit.
Director and screenwriter Andrew Stanton praised the singer’s emotional connection to the character and the story.
“It’s incredible just how meaningful it’s been having Taylor write and perform this song. Her connection to Jessie and the immediate way she understood what the character was going through was undeniable.”
He continued:
“The song is so deeply connected to Toy Story. So much so that on first listen, it instantly felt like it had always belonged there, like a long-lost family member. It was kismet.”
The announcement caps off one of the most talked-about fan speculation campaigns of the year.
Back in April, Swift launched a mysterious countdown clock on her website. When the timer reached zero, fans were left with more questions than answers. However, eagle-eyed followers quickly noticed several visual clues. The background featured clouds strikingly similar to the iconic wallpaper from Andy’s bedroom in the Toy Story films, while the typography echoed the franchise’s signature logo design.
Then things escalated.
On May 29, billboards began appearing in cities around the world featuring the letters “TS” surrounded by 13 clouds—a number famously associated with Swift. Pixar fueled the frenzy by sharing images of the campaign alongside a playful nod to one of her biggest hits.
“She’s making those moves up as she goes!”
The quote, lifted from “Shake It Off,” sent fans into overdrive.
Over the following days, additional clues surfaced. Toy Story-style clouds appeared in Taylor Swift searches on TikTok. Spotify added similar imagery to its Swift collection pages. Apple Music capitalized the letters “T” and “S” across all of her Track 5 songs, while her “Essentials” playlist was temporarily reduced to only those emotionally charged tracks. Even the artwork for 1989 (Taylor’s Version) appeared altered, replacing its signature seagulls with clouds.
By the time a second countdown appeared on Swift’s official website, many fans had already connected the dots.
Now, the mystery has officially been solved.
With Toy Story 5 set to arrive in theaters later this month, “I Knew It, I Knew You” is shaping up to be one of the franchise’s most significant musical moments since Randy Newman’s iconic contributions helped define the series. For Swift, it represents a childhood dream fulfilled—and another unexpected chapter in a career that continues to surprise audiences.
As the countdown finally reaches its conclusion, one thing is clear: the clues were pointing to infinity and beyond all along.
