The Jonas Brothers are taking their fans on an extraordinary trip back in time—and this time, they’re bringing the entire arena along for the ride. On Thursday, August 20, Kevin, Joe, and Nick Jonas stepped onto the legendary stage at New York City’s Madison Square Garden to kick off the first of three sold-out nights for their highly anticipated “Burning Up Tour All Over Again.”
What was initially announced as an exclusive three-night engagement in Manhattan quickly ballooned into a massive North American spectacle. Due to overwhelming fan demand, the brothers expanded the concept into a full-scale 45-city arena tour spanning through December. The concert structure offers a double dose of Jonas history: Act One is a track-by-track recreation of their iconic 2008–2009 “Burning Up Tour” setlist, while Act Two dives into their post-reunion catalogue, solo ventures (including DNCE hits and Nick’s solo tracks), and fan-requested deep cuts.
Opening night delivered plenty of high-energy surprises—including a double performance of their mega-hit “Burnin’ Up.” Security icon Big Rob was scheduled to join the brothers on stage during Act One, but inclement weather delayed his travel to the venue. Undeterred, the band brought him out at the close of the show to deliver his legendary rap verse, performing the track a second time to thunderous applause.
The biggest highlight of the evening arrived in the second half, when the trio debuted their brand-new single, “Listen When Sad.” The track marks their first studio collaboration with producer John Fields since 2009. Reflecting on the new release, the band shared:
“There’s something special about going back to one of the most pivotal eras in our musical journey. Our brand new single ‘Listen When Sad’ reunites us with longtime producer John Fields in the studio for the first time since 2009; channeling the emo and alternative influences we grew up on. To us, it feels like a piece of our heritage channeled through who we are today, and we couldn’t be more excited for you to hear it.”
Their record label teased that the track represents “a deliberate return to the sound that started it all.” While MSG audiences got the first live taste, the official studio release of “Listen When Sad” hits streaming platforms on August 28. Following their weekend in New York, the brothers will hit cities including Boston, Toronto, Atlanta, Chicago, and Los Angeles before wrapping the tour in Newark, New Jersey shortly before Christmas.
