Tricia Helfer is embracing a new chapter — and doing it entirely on her own terms.

The Battlestar Galactica actress revealed that she recently launched an OnlyFans page, quietly joining the platform roughly a month ago before publicly discussing the decision. Now, Helfer says she hopes being open about it may help change conversations surrounding the platform and remove some of the stigma often attached to it.

“At my age, I am in my ‘do what I want’ phase of life. I’m tired of being told what to do and how to do it. I’m looking at it as something to have fun with and something that I can be in control of,” Tricia told People.

For Helfer, the decision appears rooted less in reinvention and more in creative ownership.

According to the actress, subscribers can expect a blend of polished professional work and more relaxed moments from everyday life. Rather than creating an entirely different public persona, she describes the content as an extension of who she already is.

“I’m keeping with my brand — albeit the sexier side of my brand,” she explained. “It’ll be a mix of artistic shots with great photographers and pictures and videos of quiet and silly times at home feeding my goats or weeding my garden. I posted a picture [recently] of me out in my garden watering my plants and I had my work boots on, but it was hot outside so I was in a bikini.”

The balance between glamorous imagery and personal lifestyle content reflects a broader shift many creators have embraced on subscription platforms — allowing audiences access not only to curated content but also to smaller everyday moments.

Helfer also admitted that surprising people can sometimes be part of the fun.

“I enjoy shocking a little bit,” she shared, while explaining that she ultimately sees the platform as “an extension of [her] creative, fun and flirty side.”

For longtime fans, the move may not feel entirely out of character.

Helfer previously posed for Playboy in 2007 while promoting Battlestar Galactica, and she explained that her latest venture feels connected to earlier forms of entertainment media rather than completely separate from them.

She described OnlyFans as “an extension and a modern day growth from those types of press outlets from the past.”

Beyond personal and creative freedom, Helfer also revealed another motivation behind joining the platform: charitable work.

“Animal charity specifically has always been close to my heart,” Tricia said. “I’ve done it at least the last 20 years. So if I have any success with OnlyFans, then it will actually help me be able to donate more money than I already do and stay involved in ways than I already do.”

While conversations surrounding celebrity involvement on subscription platforms continue evolving, Helfer’s perspective centers less on headlines and more on autonomy.

At 52, she says she’s entering a phase focused on making choices for herself — and defining success on her own terms.
