‘Outer Banks’ actor Austin North has released a statement addressing the incident that led to his arrest in Las Vegas on Tuesday, February 13. The 27-year-old star, known for his role in the popular series, was in town for the Super Bowl and found himself in the hospital, a situation that escalated into an unfortunate series of events.

Taking to his Instagram story, Austin provided his perspective on the incident and shared the reason behind his hospital visit. He began by expressing deep upset over the events and clarified, “I am deeply upset by the events that took place in Las Vegas this past week. My friend drove me to the hospital because I thought I was having a heart attack. Several tests were taken, including blood, which came back negative for any drugs or alcohol in my system. I was having a severe anxiety attack.”

Austin disclosed that he has “very little memory” of what unfolded at the hospital, emphasizing the severity of the anxiety attack he experienced. He conveyed his utmost respect for healthcare workers and hospital staff, acknowledging their crucial role in patient care. The actor candidly shared that he has battled anxiety on and off for years and described this particular incident as the most extreme panic attack he has ever faced.

In an effort to transform a difficult situation into an opportunity for advocacy and understanding, Austin expressed his intention to shed light on anxiety disorders. He stated, “Going forward, I hope to shed light on this debilitating disorder and send hope to those who have also struggled.”

According to TMZ, the situation at the hospital involved Austin allegedly assaulting emergency room staff. The report detailed that he “punched a nurse in the head, shoved the face of another nurse, and pushed the phlebotomist into a table — only for the latter alleged victim to use a tray nearby to smack him in the head in self-defense.” Security officers had to intervene and restrain Austin, who reportedly attacked another person before the police arrived.

Following the altercation, Austin North was read his Miranda rights and informed of the arrest for misdemeanor battery. He was subsequently taken to jail, where his mugshot was taken. Austin later bonded out, marking a distressing turn of events for the actor after facing a severe anxiety attack.

As Austin navigates the repercussions of the incident, his openness about mental health struggles may contribute to a broader conversation about anxiety and the challenges faced by individuals dealing with the disorder. The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of understanding and supporting those grappling with mental health issues in various forms.
