It’s really happening!

For weeks, K-Pop group BLACKPINK has been teasing about a “surprise feature.” There’s been rumors that Selena Gomez is collaborating with BLACKPINK on a new single, sending fans into a frenzy.

BLACKPINK‘s management, YG Entertainment, previously released a statement saying, “It is difficult to confirm that BLACKPINK and Selena Gomez will collaborate. Please wait until we officially reveal the featured artist.”

This August, the K-Pop girl group celebrates the fourth anniversary of their debut album – and made an exciting announcement: They ARE collaborating with Selena on a new song.

Both Selena and BLACKPINK shared the news on social media.

“So SO excited to announce @BlackPinkOfficial and I have a new song coming out August 28th!” Selena wrote on Instagram, tagging the members of the K-Pop quartet.

Not much is known about the track – just that it’ll be on BLACKPINK’s upcoming album, which is set to drop on October 2nd.

In other Selena news…

Selena’s been cooking up a lot of projects as of late – both literally and figuratively.

She recently reunited with Wizards Of Waverly Place co-star David Henrie for the upcoming premiere David’s directorial debut, This Is The Year, which Selena executive produced. Her quarantine cooking show on HBO Max, Selena + Chef, has also dropped the first three episodes on the streaming platform.

In one episode, Selena had to prepare a pretty challenging protein – octopus! – for a seafood tostada she was making, which got a lot of groans, laughs, and even gagging from Selena and her pals, Liz and Raquelle, who were quarantining with her.

Chef Antonia Lofazo, who was guiding her with the recipe, definitely noted that gag, responding, “The gagging is my favorite part of this.”

She wasn’t out to make Selena’s life hard in the kitchen though. Talking to Entertainment Tonight, she explained why she chose that dish for Selena to make.

“I thought that would be fun because it’s not really an ingredient that everyone always gets to see in its entirety,” Chef Antonia says.

“There are techniques where people can be like, ‘To make an omelet is very difficult or to make ramen is very difficult,’” she continues. “But I was like, ‘Let’s give her a difficult protein to work with. Let’s give her something that is going to be fun to talk about. It’s going to be fun to shoot.’”

At certain points in the show, there were concerns about Selena possibly having a kitchen fire and cutting off a finger.

She had to boil the octopus in a plastic bag – and when the boiling pot of water overflowed, Liz screamed for a fir extinguisher. But, chill guys, they didn’t need it.

“All I kept envisioning was that she didn’t put enough water in the octopus pot. And at some point the plastic was going to be burning the bottom of the pot and start this huge fire,” Antonia recalled.

And when Selena was cutting radishes vertically, Chef Antonia also kinda freaked out. Thankfully, Selena’s fingers are also A-OK.

“It scared me when I saw her cut that radish. I mean, that was a very genuine reaction,” Chef Antonia said. “I was very happy that she was fine.”
