Fans will get to see Selena Gomez heating up the kitchen really soon.

Back in May, it was announced that the Selena was coming out with a cooking show where she will be remotely joined by master chefs who will teach her how to make a variety of dishes in the 10-episode HBO Max series, Selena +Chef.

Selena shared a 30-second teaser Tuesday (August 4), giving fans a first look at upcoming unscripted series. HBO Max later debuted the full and finally revealed the premiere date – August 13.

In the nearly 2-minute-long clip, Selena, who’s an accomplished actress, singer and performer, admits, “I really love to eat. But I’m not the best cook. I’ve asked some of the best chefs to school me.”

Her culinary mentors this season include Angelo Sosa, Antonia Lofaso, Candice Kumai, Daniel Holzman, Jon & Vinny, Ludo Lefebvre, Nancy Silverton, Nyesha Arrington, Roy Choi, and Tanya Holland.

During WarnerMedia’s virtual Television Critics Association press tour to promote her new show, Selena Selena explained why she wanted to do the series. “I really thought this was something that would be light-hearted because I was definitely getting down with everything going on,” she said. “I wanted to do this simply because I love cooking.”

She also hopes “this is something that will make people smile.”

She also opened up about how quarantining amid the ongoing pandemic has affected her.

“It’s not easy for anyone to be walking through what we’re walking through. It’s not normal, and it’s affecting people, specifically with mental health, and people who could have never thought about things they’re thinking about now. And it’s really confusing,” she shared.

“It was hard, but I tried to find what I needed to get me through it. I have great friends and I see a therapist and keep my mind positive,” the singer continued, adding, “I’ve learned so much about myself. I’ve learned more about my country than I ever have from school or anything. So I’ve been very grateful for that as well.”

Last week, Selena went on Instagram to catch fans up on what she’s been up to as of late – and also explain why she hasn’t been posting as much.

“Hey! I wanted to take some time to do a quick message for you guys because I haven’t been posting that much. I just wanted to let you know that I love you guys and I miss you and there’s so many exciting things coming up that I can’t wait to share with all of you,” Selena shared in the video. “I just think at the beginning of this year, with everything going on, it felt a little insensitive to post things that may be a little just… joyful or celebratory, it was really hard for me.”

“And, I’ve taken the time to learn, truly learn about what’s going on and I continue to make that my priority,” she continued. “But, just letting you know that I’m going to be a little bit more involved and I’m just sending more love and gonna show you some more of my personal stuff and what I have been doing. But, thank you for being here, and thank you for supporting me always and I will talk to you soon.”

In another interview, Selena went on Twitch’s Animal Talking streaming talk show on Wednesday evening, and got candid about who her dream music collaborator would be.

“I’ve always dreamt of doing a song with Taylor,” Selena shared. “We both wanted to do that.”

“It just feels like we’re family, I’ve known her for 13 or 14 years now,” she added. “She’s been my best friend, [and] we’ve talked about it, for sure.”

So, is a Selena-Taylor collab actually happening?

“You never know!” Selena teased.
