Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello are getting into the holiday spirit.
The couple just released their newest collab on Monday (December 7) – a duet of the classic holiday tune, “The Christmas Song.” And, yes, there’s a music video!
Camila shared the MV, which was shot from their home, on Twitter, writing “Merry christmas to you and yours 🖤 #TheChristmasSong video out now.”
The couple’s newest project supports a good cause – and, apparently, they had the most adorable director helming the music video. “Shot by us, directed by Tarzan from our quarantine bubble,” she added, tagging her beau, @ShawnMendes. “Every stream supports those in need through @feedingamerica.”
As many know, this isn’t the first time Shawn and Camila have collaborated on a song. Last year, they teamed up for the summer hit “Señorita.” But, before that, they had also teamed up for their 2015 collab “I know What You Did Last Summer.”
Shawn appeared on Monday’s (December 7) episode of The Late Late Show With James Corden alongside fellow guest Matthew McConaughey. During the interview, the host shared a 2015 clip of Shawn and Camila denying they had ever dated or hooked up.
While the two are very much open about their love for each other now, they weren’t exactly so in touch with their feelings five years ago. And Shawn was downright cringing the whole time he was watching the clip.
“It’s hard, it’s really hard,” Shawn admits of seeing the clip. “I had to take some real deep breaths. I hear Matthew McConaughey in the back of my head saying, ‘You’re gonna be OK.'”
“‘Cause I remember that. I didn’t even accept that I was completely in love with her for another three years after that point, but it’s so obvious on my face right there,” he said.
He says it took him a few years before even admitting the extent of his feelings for Camila to himself – and a couple more to get up the courage to give it a shot.
“I think three years after that [interview] was when I finally admitted [I was in love with her] and then another two years after that was when I decided to do something about it,” Shawn shared. “So now this is where that took me. The timing worked out. But look at me now. We’re good. Everything’s amazing.”
