Selena Gomez is getting real about he decision to not keep in touch with some of her Wizards of Waverly Place co-stars.

In a new appearance on the Wizards of Waverly Place podcast with Jennifer Stone and David Deluise, who were in the hit Disney Channel series with her, Selena explained why she lost touch with them after their show ended.

The 30-year-old actress and singer revealed that she did not keep in touch with them because she “felt ashamed of the decisions that I made.”

She further explained:

“I didn’t want you guys to see me in the state that I was in, because A, you would have told me the truth, which terrifies me, and B, I didn’t want to let you down.”

Jennifer and David both expressed their appreciation for her candid answer. David, who played her on-screen father, said:

“That’s really sweet, and thank you for saying that. Obviously, I miss you.”

Jennifer, who played her BDD Harper Finale, said that she’s thought about why she and Selena hadn’t kept in touch, and appreciated Selena opening up about that particular point in time:

“I appreciate you saying that too, because to be perfectly blunt, there has been times where I’m like, ‘Did we stop being friends because I didn’t tell her what she wanted to hear?’ You know what I mean? So, I appreciate you being that honest.”

Selena went on to tell them that she “appreciates you guys dearly. I love you so much in a way that I’ve never loved anybody else.” She added:

“I think I felt safe and that’s a really hard thing for me to feel. I know you guys love me for me… You guys genuinely loved me, and that’s all I could have asked for. The unconditional trust and bond we had, I miss [it] so much.”
