Brooklyn Beckham’s relationship with his famous family has long been under public scrutiny — but recent revelations about a legal request sent to his parents have brought the situation into sharper focus.
Last summer, David and Victoria Beckham were reportedly blindsided after receiving a letter from Brooklyn and his wife, Nicola Peltz Beckham, asking them to stop contacting the couple directly and to refrain from mentioning them publicly, including on social media. The letter, sent by the couple’s law firm Schillings to Harbottle and Lewis — which represents the Beckhams — was described as a request rather than formal legal action.
The move was widely viewed by some as extreme. However, those close to Brooklyn say it was a decision made after repeated attempts to establish boundaries went unheard.
“Nobody had ever wanted to do something like this, but unfortunately, Brooklyn’s request had constantly gone ignored by his family…he did what he had to do to protect himself,” a source with knowledge of the situation said.
While questions have surfaced about whether Brooklyn was acting independently, others firmly reject the idea that Nicola was behind the decision. Claims that she is “controlling” have been called out by those close to the couple as both inaccurate and harmful.
Brooklyn, sources say, is particularly hurt by the narrative surrounding his wife.
“This narrative is so sexist and misogynistic, and he does not stand for his wife being vilified in this way. It’s a story as old as time: blame the woman for the man’s actions. It’s just deeply insulting,” says a source.
According to insiders, David and Victoria had reached out in hopes of repairing the relationship privately and were devastated by the legal route. The situation escalated amid ongoing tension, including Brooklyn and Nicola’s absence from David’s 50th birthday celebration and the Beckhams not being invited to the couple’s vow renewal ceremony.
Speaking previously about renewing their vows, Brooklyn shared, “We just wanted a really beautiful experience. To be honest, I could renew my vows every single day with her. I think the most important thing that someone can do is find that person that they’re going to spend the rest of their life with. It definitely shapes you as a person.
