Candice King and Steven Krueger are officially married—and their story feels like something pulled straight from the universe’s playbook.

The two actors, both part of the same CW franchise, spent years orbiting the same world without ever truly crossing paths. King starred in The Vampire Diaries, while Krueger appeared on its spinoff, The Originals. They lived in the same city, worked within the same creative circle, and yet—somehow—never connected.

Until they did.

“We circled around each other for years as we both lived in Atlanta and worked on The Vampire Diaries and The Originals,” Steven told Vogue. “We like to joke that we were probably in the same room a dozen times and never noticed each other… Suddenly, it was this instant mutual feeling of: ‘Hi, where the hell have you been.’ Invisible string theory at its finest.”

That moment came in 2023, during a cast reunion dinner—and it quickly changed everything.

The couple got engaged in April 2025 and initially planned a Fall 2026 wedding. But life, as it often does, had other plans. After learning that Candice was pregnant, they decided to pivot—opting for something more immediate and intimate.

“We decided to have a small elopement-style weekend in Nashville with just our immediate families, and save the bigger celebration for sometime next year,” Steven said.

The ceremony took place at The Chapel at High Point Farm, followed by a reception at Jeff Ruby’s Steakhouse—an understated but elegant setting that matched the tone of the weekend.

“The cherry on top was one of our mutual best friends, Carina MacKenzie, flying in to officiate for us! We had 15 people in total, including Candice’s daughters and my two nieces. And it was perfect,” Steven said.

For King, who shares two daughters with ex-husband Joe King of The Fray, the moment marked a new chapter—one that blended family, love, and a growing future together.

She also kept things refreshingly honest when it came to the realities of wedding planning while pregnant.

“Shockingly, there’s not a huge market for wedding dresses that fit over a baby bump,” she said. “I was quite nervous to find a dress that would make me feel bridal and maternal — and not like the ‘Stay Puft Marshmallow Man’ from Ghostbusters bouncing down the aisle.”

Congratulations to the happy couple!
