Grimes has never been one to play it safe — and her latest tattoo is proof.

The 37-year-old artist (real name Claire Elise Boucher) just debuted an enormous red circle inked across the side of her face, running through her left eye. The bold new look, created by cybersigilism tattoo artist Glyphomancer, has quickly become one of her most talked-about transformations yet.

For the uninitiated, cybersigilism is a style that merges ancient symbols with futuristic designs — and it couldn’t be more on-brand for Grimes.

“Spent like ten years emotionally working up to a face tattoo,” she wrote on Instagram. “But I guess I drew on my face too much and literally no one noticed, not even my parents, not even after the video lol.”

That video — her Artificial Angels music clip released last week — is where fans first spotted the new ink.

Grimes continued, praising her tattoo artist’s innovation: “That said I think @glyphomancer is onto something truly novel and innovative with her work esp on face tats — there’s a true beauty, delicacy, and innovation here [in my opinion]. Feel like tats are in a crazy renaissance period that’s sort of under appreciated [at the moment].”

The design fits right into her larger-than-life aesthetic — futuristic, boundary-pushing, and deeply personal. Love it or not, Grimes continues to redefine what it means to be an artist in her own galaxy.
