Lil Nas X is taking time to heal and regroup.
The 26-year-old “Old Town Road” hitmaker is currently in treatment following last month’s headline-grabbing arrest. He was charged with four felonies—three counts of battery with injury to a police officer and one count of resisting an executive officer—after allegedly resisting arrest and scuffling with police while wandering Los Angeles streets partially unclothed. He’s pled not guilty.
His attorney, Drew Findling, gave an update captured by Rolling Stone reporter Nancy Dillon. “Obviously, you heard the treatment word,” he began, noting that the next court date is still a couple months away.
“We’re doing what is best for Montero from a personal standpoint and a professional standpoint, but most importantly for his well-being,” Findling said.
“He is surrounded by an amazing family, an amazing team of people that care about him and love him. We’re just addressing those issues. It’s really as simple as that.”
The lawyer added reassuringly, “He’s had a great life, he’ll continue to have a great life. This is a bump that he’s gonna get over. On behalf of him, his family is making sure that he addresses all those issues right now.”
Specific details of the treatment remain private, but the message is clear: Lil Nas X is putting his health first so he can come back stronger than ever.
