The cameras have officially stopped rolling on Emily in Paris.
Netflix’s hit romantic comedy series wrapped principal photography on its sixth and final season this week, closing out a defining chapter for the platform and its titular star, Lily Collins. The streaming service broke the news on Friday, September 18, via a social media post showcasing Collins and series creator Darren Star posing alongside a director’s chair printed with the word “Fin.”
“The beginning of la fin […] production on the final season of EMILY IN PARIS has officially wrapped!” the show’s official account posted.
Collins, who has led the series as both star and producer throughout its seven-year run, took to her personal Instagram page to share behind-the-scenes photographs alongside a heartfelt reflection on saying goodbye to the character that reshaped her career.
“My last day on set as Emily… I’m speechless. It’s impossible to find the words for what this journey has meant to me. For so many years, Emily has been a part of my life, and through every season, she’s continued to surprise me, inspire me, and challenge me. Thank you, Darren Star, for dreaming up this endlessly optimistic American girl in Paris who finds herself constantly outside of her comfort zone, learning to trust herself while leaning on others as she navigates her new life. I’m so grateful you trusted me to bring her to life. Thank you to our unparalleled crew, our writers, our directors, and of course our incredible cast who is now family and who I cannot imagine this without. You have made Emily, Emily. You made this world feel like home. And merci to all of you who have been supporting us over these past 7 years and 6 seasons, keeping us inspired to dream bigger along our epic adventure. The final installment is scheduled to premiere globally on Netflix on December 24. Speaking with Netflix’s Tudum, creator Darren Star revealed that Season 6 expands the show’s scope beyond its signature French backdrop.
“I wanted the final season to feel like the biggest Emily in Paris experience yet,” Star explained. “We went to multiple locations this season, and Greece was somewhere we really wanted to showcase in a spectacular way. That’s part of the fantasy of Europe: you’re always within reach of another extraordinary place, another culture, another adventure. I wanted the audience to have that vicarious experience of traveling right along with Emily.”
Netflix’s official logline for the concluding season promises a high-stakes finale: “Stepping into a new era of ambition and romance, Emily faces defining choices that test her ultimate loyalties. But as unexpected career conflicts and shifting relationships force her to reevaluate where her true future lies, she must make one final choice between her career, her heart, and the life she’s built in Paris.”
