Miley Cyrus is revisiting her Disney Channel era—and revealing a long-speculated piece of its history.
In the newly released Hannah Montana 20th Anniversary Special on Disney+, the 33-year-old pop star confirmed that she once dated fellow Disney alum Dylan Sprouse during the early years of her career.
The revelation comes as part of a broader reflection on her time as the face of one of Disney Channel’s most defining series—a role that shaped not only her career, but an entire generation of viewers.
Speaking candidly during the special, Miley confirmed what had long circulated as rumor among fans.
“I secretly, um…Dylan was my boyfriend. I think he was the cutest,” she shared with host Alex Cooper.
While the relationship had never been officially acknowledged at the time, Miley leaned into the moment with a mix of nostalgia and humor.
“I think maybe it was rumored, but it’s true. Confirmed!”
The two were both central figures in Disney Channel’s late-2000s lineup, with Sprouse starring alongside his twin brother Cole in The Suite Life of Zack & Cody, while Miley led Hannah Montana. Their worlds overlapped both professionally and socially, making the connection a natural one behind the scenes.
“Dylan was my crush. Their dad would take us to sushi…and it was a two-for-one. Bring the brother!” Miley joked, referencing Cole.
Their crossover extended to the screen as well. Dylan appeared alongside Miley in the 2009 multi-series event Wizards on Deck with Hannah Montana, which brought together characters from Wizards of Waverly Place, The Suite Life on Deck, and Hannah Montana—a now-iconic moment in Disney Channel history.
The confirmation adds a new layer to that era, offering fans a glimpse into the off-screen dynamics that helped define the network’s golden age.
Since then, both stars have moved into very different phases of their careers. Miley has evolved into a global pop force, known for her genre-spanning music and reinvention. She confirmed late last year that she is engaged to musician Maxx Morando.
Dylan, meanwhile, has maintained a steady acting career and has been in a long-term relationship with model Barbara Palvin since 2018. The couple married in 2023.
Still, the revelation serves as a reminder of just how interconnected that Disney era was—and how many stories from that time are only now being shared.
