The post-baby chapter of Pete Davidson and Elsie Hewitt’s relationship appears to be getting more complicated — and now, public comments from both sides are adding a new layer to the conversation.
Just months after welcoming their daughter, Scottie Hewitt-Davidson, Elsie is speaking candidly about motherhood, exhaustion, and doing it all while navigating life in the public eye. Her comments arrive amid reports that she and Pete recently split after less than a year together, prompting a wave of speculation online about their co-parenting dynamic and where things stand behind the scenes.
The conversation gained traction after Elsie, 30, shared a candid TikTok video addressing paparazzi photos that had surfaced of her while out with her daughter. Rather than brushing off the scrutiny, she used the moment to pull back the curtain on the reality of early motherhood — one that she says currently involves very little sleep and a lot of responsibility.
“Yeah, yeah, I know. I’m exhausted, okay? I should have left the house looking nicer yesterday,” she began.
“I should have known that that was gonna happen. But that’s not what I’m thinking about right now, because I have a baby to take care of, and I also have to work and make money,” she continued.
She then opened up further about the challenges she’s facing while adjusting to life with a newborn.
“I’m doing it on my own, which is hard…next time, I will try to look nicer when I got paparazzi on a walk with my daughter. Okay? But I don’t know how to get rid of the eye bags because I don’t sleep.”
The video quickly made its way across social media platforms, where viewers flooded the comments section with messages of support — but one particular exchange caught attention.
“I hope you don’t mean you’re doing the financial part alone… that would be insane given the circumstances. You seem like a lovely person and a wonderful mother! We’re all rooting for you,” one commenter wrote.
Elsie replied with a short but eyebrow-raising response:
“I am :)”
The response was later deleted, but not before screenshots began circulating online, fueling even more discussion surrounding Pete’s involvement and whether Elsie was suggesting she was solely carrying financial responsibilities as well.
Around the same time, Elsie also posted to her Instagram Stories seeking help as she adjusts to the demands of motherhood.
“I’m currently trying to find an assistant/ mother’s helper / nanny type / basically [a] right hand person,” she wrote.
“Apply here if qualified & serious. Only looking @ responses with resumes,” she continued, adding that the position would “of course” be paid.
Following the growing conversation online, a source close to Pete Davidson offered a statement to People, pushing back on assumptions about the comedian and actor’s role in his daughter’s life.
“Pete has made himself extremely available and has provided financial support. Pete is actually covering all Scottie costs and more. He is hoping Elsie has good health and success for the sake of their daughter.”
The statement presents a very different picture from the one some social media users interpreted after Elsie’s posts.
The latest developments come shortly after reports emerged that Pete, 32, and Elsie had ended their relationship. According to People, sources said the pair split roughly five months after welcoming Scottie together.
Still, the situation may not be entirely settled.
At the time, a source told the outlet the two are still “working on things,” while adding that “they want one another to succeed and be happy.”
For now, neither Pete nor Elsie has personally issued additional statements beyond their recent public comments, leaving much of the conversation to unfold online.
