Sam Asghari is speaking publicly following news that his ex-wife, Britney Spears, has entered a treatment facility, offering a measured response focused on personal agency and recovery.
Earlier this month, a representative for Spears confirmed that the 44-year-old singer had voluntarily checked herself into a rehabilitation program. The development comes more than a month after Spears was arrested for driving under the influence near her home in Ventura County, California.
While speaking to TMZ photographers on April 22, Asghari addressed the situation directly.
“I think it’s great, [and] I think anything that has anything to do with healing [are] great things,” he said. “As long as the person is in charge of that, it’s all great.”
Asghari, 32, emphasized the importance of personal choice in the recovery process, framing the decision as a positive step so long as it remains self-directed.
He also confirmed that he has not been in contact with Spears since she entered the facility.
Spears’ reported treatment program is said to last approximately 30 days, although sources indicate the duration could be extended depending on her needs and progress.
Additional reporting suggests that Spears’ sons, Sean, 20, and Jayden, 19, played a role in encouraging her to seek help. According to a source, “They’ve been clear with her. They just want her to be healthy.”
The singer shares her sons with ex-husband Kevin Federline. While Spears has maintained a complex and often highly publicized personal life in recent years, the current development marks a shift toward a more structured approach to her well-being.
Asghari and Spears finalized their divorce in 2024 after a brief marriage. Despite their separation, Asghari’s comments reflect a tone of support, focusing on the broader importance of healing rather than personal history.
Spears has not publicly addressed her decision to enter treatment. Her representatives have also not provided additional details regarding the nature of the program or her current condition.
