Shawn Mendes is opening up about how he’s been doing post-breakup.
On Friday (March 18), the 23-year-old musician took to social media to share his real-life struggles following his split from former girlfriend Camila Cabello.
Taking to Twitter, he candidly spoke about how the lyrics in his new music reflect what he’s been going through. In a video he uploaded, Shawn said:
“You don’t realize when you’re breaking up with someone… all the s—t that comes after it.”
He elaborated further, emotionally saying:
“Which is like, who do I call when I am, like, in a panic attack, who do I call when I am, like, f–king on the edge, you know?
And I think that’s the reality that kinda I am on my own now after like, finally I am actually on my own and I hate that … that’s my reality, you know.”
Back in November 2021, Shawn and Camila announced that they had decided to end their relationship after two years together. The two were friends for many years before getting together.
