Vanessa Hudgens is officially back on set!
The 36-year-old actress just wrapped filming Quiet Storm, marking her first role since welcoming her baby with husband Cole Tucker in June 2024.
According to Deadline, the film is set in the summer of 1969 as Hurricane Camille strikes the U.S. Hudgens plays a romance novelist stuck indoors during the storm, confronting the societal upheaval of the time — from women’s liberation to the Black Power movement.
Quiet Storm is a dramatic thriller that not only puts Vanessa in a lead role but also sees her stepping in as lead producer. Her longtime friend Oliver Trevena is also producing, while acclaimed director Nick Cassavetes is signed on as an executive producer.
Anthony Thorne, who wrote the script, is making his directorial debut and stars as Hudgens’ on-screen husband. The cast also includes Mira Sorvino, Seydou Maiga, Sophia Chapdelaine, Cody John, and Elysée Sanvillé.
This marks Vanessa’s return to acting since embracing motherhood — and she’s doing it with a powerful project that dives into social change and personal identity during a transformative era.
