Maren Morris and Cassadee Pope have fans wondering if there’s a new country music couple on the scene.
The two singers sparked dating speculation after sharing a playful moment on social media during a night out in New York City, prompting plenty of conversation among fans. While neither artist has publicly commented on the nature of their relationship, one Instagram Story in particular quickly caught people’s attention.
The buzz began after Pope posted a photo of herself and Morris sharing a kiss while enjoying an evening together on Monday, July 6.
Alongside the image, Pope wrote, “She won’t go out with you because she’s out with me, silly.” She also added a hand-over-the-mouth emoji, leaving followers to interpret the caption for themselves.
The post immediately made its way across social media, with fans debating whether the photo was simply a lighthearted joke between friends or a subtle confirmation that the pair are romantically involved.
At this point, neither Morris nor Pope has addressed the speculation, and there has been no official confirmation that the singers are dating.
What is known is that the two spent the evening together alongside friends while taking in Broadway.
The group attended opening night of comedian and actress Meg Stalter’s performance in Oh, Mary!, where Morris and Pope were seated front and center for the show.
Photos and videos from the evening showed the pair enjoying themselves throughout the performance, adding to the excitement surrounding the outing.
For Morris, the renewed interest in her personal life comes more than a year after she publicly came out as bisexual.
In a candid interview with The Zoe Report last year, the Grammy-winning singer explained why she decided it was finally the right time to share that part of herself publicly.
“I wanted to be able to connect with my fans and my queer community…Especially in a time where you’re in this free-for-all post-divorce reckoning, community has been so necessary for me and life-saving. Being honest and being vulnerable is the only way that you find community,” she said.
Morris also reflected on why she hadn’t spoken publicly about her sexuality earlier in her career.
“I’ve always known that I am attracted to men and women…I think because I’ve been in straight relationships the last 15 years of my life, which has been consumed by my music career and living in Nashville, I never felt brave enough to talk about it.”
