Local authorities responded to the Miami-Dade residence of veteran digital media personality Perez Hilton on Tuesday (August 4), following a highly alarming TikTok livestream that prompted widespread concern from viewers across social media platforms.
The 48-year-old blogger appeared to be in physical distress and actively harming himself during the broadcast. Clips that briefly circulated online appeared to show Hilton bloodied and utilizing an object to cause self-harm, leading distressed fans and online observers to immediately contact local law enforcement services.
In a formal statement released to Newsweek, the Miami-Dade County Sheriff’s Office confirmed receiving “multiple calls” regarding the incident. Upon arriving at the residence, officers spoke directly with family members present at the scene and confirmed that Hilton was inside the home alone.
Outlining their tactical crisis approach, the Sheriff’s Office stated:
“In many incidents involving a person experiencing a mental health crisis or actively harming themselves, deputies prioritize de-escalation by creating time, distance, and opportunities for communication. Unless there is an immediate threat to others, slowing the situation and utilizing crisis intervention techniques can reduce the likelihood of a suicide-by-cop encounter and minimize the risk of injury to the individual, deputies, and the public.”
The statement concluded by noting that “at this time, deputies have tactically disengaged while continuing to monitor the situation and providing the needed support to his family.” While TikTok promptly removed the original broadcast, reposted fragments continued to circulate across external channels throughout the evening.
The incident occurs months after Hilton disclosed a major health scare. In March 2026, the media personality posted a YouTube update revealing he had been hospitalized for 21 days due to severe medical complications. After taking flu medication on an empty stomach for a week, Hilton developed a perforated stomach ulcer that led to sepsis, requiring emergency surgery and a prolonged recovery period. Following his discharge, Hilton shared that the ordeal served as a wakeup call to slow down and focus on his three children: Mario, 13, Mia, 11, and Mayte Amor, 8.
